Interrupt the recitation of the telephone menu by pressing 0 or 0# or #0. - Wait...
Don't punch any number. The system will assume you have a rotary dial phone and connect you to a representative. - Yell!
Raise your voice. Some companies screen for tension in customers' voices and will route callers about to blow a fuse to the top.
Years ago Aflac actually added a menu option that said to Press 7 to hear the duck quack. I enjoyed that they added that bit of humor to try to assuage impatient ones like me.
